The use of a scissor lift in South Africa is only allowed to those who had undergone specific training and held a license granted by the OHS.

The Safety Scissors Lift Act 2016 has made it possible for anybody in possession of a license, to operate a scissors lift within the country. A license can be obtained through a qualified operator, as long as he or she is certified by the OHS. The training consists of both theory and practical components and is divided into 3 modules. The first module is the Certificate of Core Competence (CCS), which will allow you to operate any type of mobile ladder.
