Shermitex  has its roots in South Africa. It was formed in 2001 to provide scaffolding training to its clients. It has since that time grown from strength to strength and offers safety courses as well as scaffolding courses in Cape Town and Johannesburg.

Practical course content includes scaffolding erection, work positioning and rigging, debris handling and stability, scaffold disassembly and dismantling, scaffold access and fall prevention, scaffold inspection and maintenance, temporary works and mobile elevated work platforms (MEWPs) for construction sites.

To be accredited you must complete the course, pass the written test, a site visit and have relevant experience. The site-based course is designed specifically to give a better understanding of how the system works and how it is erected on site. In addition sites have different hazards that need to be addressed by the scaffolder. The course includes a written exam at the end of the day.
